Have you ever looked in at the cake shop window, wide-eyed and wondered how will I ever choose just one? Well… this is a struggle of the past with the rise of the dessert station trend made possible by us, your New Forest creative caterer.
We have set up several visually enticing displays this year, tailored to the theme of our couples wedding days. At Ginger, we know how difficult it is to make decisions so why choose one when you can choose three? His, hers and a mutual favourite- nothing wrong with that.
One of our guest’s selections this year for an event we catered for at the lovely Titchfield vineyard home to some delightful Hampshire wines including, Red, Whites & Rose consisted of a trio of Lemon Posset with Lavender crumble, Tiramisu Trifle and a Strawberry cheesecake mousse. We incorporated the service of the desserts into the evening’s entertainment of a Rat Pack tribute act. During the ‘interval’, the dessert station provided the next form of entertainment and a welcome change to the traditional ice cream pot, where guests could help themselves to the beautiful array of selected desserts displayed in a glamorous, razzle, dazzle dessert case and white pillowy linen, surrounded by up lights, fairy lights and matching floral displays. There was not one more left than the other and we felt their choices catered for a variety of pallets keeping the guests going back for more.
Dessert stations are not strictly exclusive to Weddings, we are creative caterers providing delicious food for any event in Hampshire and surrounding counties. Over the year since we launched Ginger Catering in April we have also set up dessert stations for Birthdays and corporate events across hampshire and within the New Forest. We know this is a trend that will be strong in 2017 because who wants to just have one cake and eat it? Be creative, have fun with your food and let the visuals compliment your day. At Ginger, we pride ourselves on mouth-watering displays which have the “too good to eat” look, but the “dive in” encouragement.
Our stunningly edible little pieces of heaven feature the ‘Edible Summer Garden’ and a Chocolate Mess with Salted Caramel and Popping Candy, these two in particular really do have the wow factor when it comes to presentation, complemented by a flavour explosion. I can’t count the number of times our guests have complimented us on these two favourites, they truly are magical. We also loved creating a woodland display for these little gems to be displayed on recently, rustic and delicate, it just shows their wonderful ability to adapt to any style or occasion.
I personally think that the ongoing trend for food stations is fantastic, more than one choice and food that forms as part of the entertainment ticks all the boxes. Weddings are becoming more and more creative and the catering should just as exciting.
