Specialist Catering From Small Business Meetings To Large Corporate Functions, Weddings And Birthdays,We Cater To Meet Your Requirements

13495270_1031438553560545_4729205223713405379_nHave you ever looked in at the cake shop window, wide-eyed and wondered how will I ever choose just one? Well… this is a struggle of the past with the rise of the dessert station trend made possible by us, your New Forest creative caterer.

We have set up several visually enticing displays this year, tailored to the theme of our couples wedding days. At Ginger, we know how difficult it is to make decisions so why choose one when you can choose three? His, hers and a mutual favourite- nothing wrong with that.

14370013_1097611880276545_2499474046706189407_nOne of our guest’s selections this year for an event we catered for at the lovely Titchfield vineyard home to some delightful Hampshire wines including, Red, Whites & Rose consisted of a trio of Lemon Posset with Lavender crumble, Tiramisu Trifle and a Strawberry cheesecake mousse. We incorporated the service of the desserts into the evening’s entertainment of a Rat Pack tribute act. During the ‘interval’, the dessert station provided the next form of entertainment and a welcome change to the traditional ice cream pot, where guests could help themselves to the beautiful array of selected desserts displayed in a glamorous, razzle, dazzle dessert case and white pillowy linen, surrounded by up lights, fairy lights and matching floral displays. There was not one more left than the other and we felt their choices catered for a variety of pallets keeping the guests going back for more.

Dessert stations are not strictly exclusive to Weddings, we are creative caterers providing delicious food for any event in Hampshire and surrounding counties. Over the year since we launched Ginger Catering in April we have also set up dessert stations for Birthdays and corporate events across hampshire and within the New Forest. We know this is a trend that will be strong in 2017 because who wants to just have one cake and eat it? Be creative, have fun with your food and let the visuals compliment your day. At Ginger, we pride ourselves on mouth-watering displays which have the “too good to eat” look, but the “dive in” encouragement.

fullsizerenderOur stunningly edible little pieces of heaven feature the ‘Edible Summer Garden’ and a Chocolate Mess with Salted Caramel and Popping Candy, these two in particular really do have the wow factor when it comes to presentation, complemented by a flavour explosion. I can’t count the number of times our guests have complimented us on these two favourites, they truly are magical. We also loved creating a woodland display for these little gems to be displayed on recently, rustic and delicate, it just shows their wonderful ability to adapt to any style or occasion.

I personally think that the ongoing trend for food stations is fantastic, more than one choice and food that forms as part of the entertainment ticks all the boxes. Weddings are becoming more and more creative and the catering should just as exciting. Make sure you check out menus for your New Forest, Hampshire, Berkshire, Dorset, West Sussex and Wiltshire Wedding and remember anything is possible.

Minstead Lodge Wedding Venue New Forest National Park

wedding-fair

Early in the Spring as the buds were just starting to come into blossom we met with the lovely Dawn and Liz at Minstead Lodge to discuss the potential opportunity of working together and making use of the lovely grounds of the Lodge to help generate funds for the Trust. Now that the leaves have changed to vibrant yellows and deep reds we can reflect on successfully holding their first Wedding Showcase back at the beginning of October.  We are now looking forward to the Spring Wedding Showcase on the 2nd April and the first wedding at the venue in Summer ’17.

It’s so lovely for us to be able to offer the grounds of the lodge to brides and grooms for their special day but the reasons for this opportunity is due to a decrease in government funding. By choosing Minstead Lodge as your wedding venue you will not only receive an exceptional level of service, you will also be generating funds to help keep Minstead Trust operating and helping so many people who, without the help and support wouldn’t have the chance to live independently.

Minstead Trust is a social enterprise that supports people with learning disabilities and autism, who want to develop and maintain their skills for life, skills for work, better health and wellbeing.

They also offer support for the individuals who want to move away from home for the first time, by supported them in their own home or in a house with other people.

Today we were invited to attend the open AGM of the trust to hear about all of the new ways in which the trust is expanding. 3 months ago they launched two new venues in Portsmouth to help adults in the local area become more independent. These venues have come a long way in such a short space of time and have received glowing audits from the Portsmouth council.

The aim of the social enterprises at the main base of Minstead Lodge is to enable the students to have jobs within the maintenance and upkeep of the beautiful Furzey Gardens, the wood work team with their production of items to be sold at craft fayres as well as their new online shop and also within the lodge itself by providing hospitality services for conferencing day delegates and for the future, even catering for their own wedding receptions.

We need to raise awareness for those who live more challenging lives and rely on the support from the local community and volunteers to be independent, who take pride in the challenges they face and overcome when doing something most of us would find a mundane daily chore. We must give thanks for what we have and give back where we can.

We will soon have photos of this charming venue in all of its wedding glory in the meantime please visit our facebook page www.facebook.com/gingercateringcompany for some sneaky peeks of the wedding showcase at the beginning of the month and for inquiries and to view the new Minstead Trust website visit www.minsteadtrust.org.uk

Private Parties – Event Caterers Hampshire

southampton-caterersAs the leaves turn brown and we all challenge ourselves as to how long we can hold out before putting the central heating on, our attentions soon turn to the impending festive season and the fact that Christmas is less than 9 weeks away (cue feelings of panic!).

Planning the office Christmas party or a seasonal family get-together can be stressful – the same-old meal and disco doesn’t always appeal to everyone. Maybe you are just bored of the standard offering and fancy something a bit different and a little quirky?

At Ginger, we have put our creative minds together and have come up with a festive package that is definitely a change from the norm! Our ‘Cocktails and Canapes’ offers the fun of being a mixologist, and under the creative guidance of our resident cocktail making supremo, allows all attending to make their own delicious and boozy combinations (and don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten the drivers and non-drinkers – there will be an array of non-alcoholic options or cute jars provided so cocktails can be taken home).

catering-hampshireAlongside the cocktail making, our friendly waiting staff will offer a selection of vibrant, festive and tasty canapes, made from scratch by our Chef Director Matt in our production kitchen. A few examples from our Christmas canape menu include Gin cured salmon, croustade, horseradish crème fraiche, tonic and citrus gel, radish and dill salad or Crispy turkey, cranberry, stuffing spring roll and cranberry ginger relish……..just a small teaser of what you can choose from!

The beauty of this package is that we come to you. You do not have to worry about finding a venue – our package works brilliantly from within a boardroom, office reception area or domestic kitchen!

caterers-hampshireThe best bit is that all of this comes at the exceptional price of starting from £19.95 per person, based on a minimum number of 10 attending your party or function. As professional private party caterers Hampshire, our experience in delivering exceptional events is second to none. We also cover the surrounding counties of Dorset, Berkshire, West Sussex, Wiltshire and Surrey, so if you or your company are based in any of these areas, we can do it!

If you would like to find out further information about our Cocktails and Canapes package (or any other catering requirement that you have) then please contact us at [email protected] or phone us on 02380 019009 and we would be delighted to discuss the options!

Corporate Event Hampshire – Hampshire Chamber of Commerce Annual Boat Show Lunch

captureToday I had the pleasure of attending the Annual Boat Show lunch at the Southampton Grand Harbour hotel, hosted by the Hampshire Chamber of Commerce.  This hugely popular event saw 130 passionate business men and women come together for a networking opportunity, followed by entry to the famous Boat Show – a chance to marvel at the most magnificent vessels of the sea, at the largest outdoor boat show in Europe.

The event started with a reception drink of bubbly fizz, whilst we all had the opportunity to forge new business relationships and beneficial connections with the other attendees. Once seated, we were treated to a delicious meal and I was lucky enough to be sat with some fabulous people from varied industries and sectors – conversations flowed and so did the laughs!

After lunch it was time for the keynote speakers to take centre stage, and this year it was Chris Gregory and Jake Sheaf – TeamGB Beach Volleyball Professional Athletes. You literally couldn’t miss these guys – 7ft and 6ft 5in respectively! It was a difficult job watching these 2 toned, muscular and athletic men talking about their route to sporting success – but someone had to do it 😉

capture1Both Chris and Jake explained how they had experienced various hurdles, injuries and personal issues to reach the pinnacles of their careers, and that they had their sights firmly set on achieving gold in the 2018 Commonwealth games – a goal that I have no doubt will be achieved purely on their immense dedication to their game.

They closed their talk with a powerful statement that they said inspired them every day – ‘Don’t be good…….be great’ – And I would say that this pretty much sums up our ethos here at Ginger!

It was lovely to be a ‘guest’ at an event but event planning and catering is where we excel – so if you have a function and you are looking for a Corporate Caterer in Hampshire – contact us today, we would love to be a part of it!

Wedding Breakfast and Catering Trend Predictions 2017–New Forest, Hampshire Wedding Catering Company…Ginger.

metallics-picAs we approach the Autumn, now is a good time to start thinking about what will be the ‘hot’ trends of 2017, as these trends may influence the choices our couples make when deciding on their wedding catering. Here at Ginger, we love creating food that inspires and ignites the imagination, and taking a couple’s ideas and transforming them into delicious, culinary reality. We think that Julie Gray of Bovingdon’s has pretty much got the predictions spot on in her article below. We invite you to have a read to see what trends you think will be popular into 2017 and beyond!
Styling
We are seeing that wedding styling is becoming a key feature of the day for our wedding clients. Couples are choosing a ‘style’ and this is being reflected across all aspects of their day. Canapés, bars and evening food stations are great ways of incorporating your look.
Metallics
Where fashion starts weddings follow – straight from the catwalk we are seeing metallic hit weddings in a big way, allowing couples to have fun playing with their styling through glassware, gold mirrored table tops, gold cutlery and tablecloths. Silver and bronze dusted chocolate truffles are a key part of this.
Sequins
No, we are not talking about the tacky sequins of the past. Sequins are returning in beautiful shades of rose, gold and champagne, some with bold, geometric shapes in tablecloths and more – a truly elegant way to complement any look. Sequins and food, however, don’t mix!
Out with the old and in with the new
No more pub food! Casual dining is OUT and fine dining is IN. This does not need to be all foams and pearls, but a more refined plate that still sustains your guests.
We are seeing a resurgence of old and delicious classics like Beef Wellington, or vegetable lasagne for your non-meat eating guests. Game is also becoming more popular, and I think in winter 2016/17 we will be serving much more venison, rabbit, pheasant and wild boar.
British all the way
It is fabulous that people are championing local food and produce as they become more aware of food miles, and this is reflected in menus offering delicious variety throughout the seasons. Asparagus in May/June, Strawberries in July/August –you just can’t beat local, seasonal fruit and vegetables.
Cocktails
More and more we are seeing cocktails playing a large part in weddings, and we do not expect this to dissipate, but we are also seeing the cocktails cross over to the food. Who wouldn’t want to end the meal with a mojito cheesecake, cherry martini torte, margarita tart or gin and tonic sorbet? It is a great way to signal that the party is about to begin.
Let them eat cake?
wedding-cocktailsThe importance of the wedding cake seems to be waning, with couples spending less and less budget on this part of the wedding, and more importance placed on the evening food and keeping guests happy right to the end. A larger number of savoury cakes are being requested that can then double up later in the evening as food to keep the guests dancing into the wee hours. A fabulous British artisan cheese table is hard to beat; a still life of heavenly tastes that expresses the maker’s passion, combined with local chutney, British apples and pears, and amazing wheat and oat wafers.
Bubbles and more
With the British viniculture being so good at the moment couples are looking closer to home for their fizz. With some stunning award-winners coming from Nye timber and Chapel Down competing against the Champagne region, why would you look further afield?
Out with the new and in with the old!
More and more couples are asking for old world wines to complement their menus, with a resurgence in the sales of French and Italian wines. C’est magnifique! Si! I think this goes hand in hand with the return to fine dining.
Stylish soft drinks just as important as the fizz
A delicious alternative to alcohol is hugely important. It not only keeps people hydrated it also tells your non-drinking friends that you really care about them. Couples get more adventurous in their choices, such as thyme lemonade, strawberry basil-ade, peach melba and grapefruit cooler, and ginger and basil spritzer.
If you would like to incorporate any of these ideas into your wedding catering, contact us today, we would be delighted to help!

Winter Weddings – Hampshire Wedding Caterers

Capture1A ceremony by flickering candlelight, a roaring log fire and a bouquet filled with mistletoe……just a few of the beautiful elements that could be part of a wonderful winter wedding. Rich, indulgent reds and deep decadent purples look stunning against a white or ivory gown, with the addition of soft fur or silky velvet providing a little extra warmth through accessorising….no wonder many brides choose this option! Winter weddings are magical, romantic and not forgetting budget friendly – many venues offer a reduced venue hire cost outside of the traditional wedding season…..so what’s not to love about a winter wedding celebration?

There are many ideas to make your winter wedding one to remember. Wedding stationery can be adorned with sparkles and diamanté’s, with sophisticated colour schemes of silver or gold. Reception venues can be lit by candles, lanterns, fairy lights, candelabras and as day turns to night, the sky can be illuminated with sparklers or fireworks.

Capture3How about having a pretty basket filled with wraps, gloves and blankets, available for guests to use when outdoor photos are being taken? Champagne can be swapped for warming and spicy mulled wine, to help keep the wedding party cosy too!

There are also other benefits to a winter wedding – it’s too cold to venture outside in the evening which means all of your guests stay in the venue, creating a brilliant party atmosphere and more dancing on the dance floor!

If it’s a little chillier outside, you can afford to be a little more indulgent with your choice of catering for your wedding breakfast too….think rich meats such as slow braised beef or confit pork belly, or how about a gooey sticky toffee pudding for dessert?

If you are considering a winter wedding, we would be delighted to discuss our catering options with you to create your perfect winter wonderland! Ginger are specialist wedding caterers based in Hampshire with over 20 years’ experience in delivering exceptional catering and events. We can also cater to the surrounding counties of Berkshire, West Sussex, Dorset, Wiltshire and Surrey – So contact us today!

New Forest Catering Services – ‘Vintage Style’

tea-cake-standWhen couples contact us about their wedding catering, it’s refreshing that there is certainly no ‘One size that fits all’. Most brides have dreamt about their perfect wedding since childhood, planning their dress, colour scheme and of course, their ideal man! However, the choice of their wedding breakfast is probably not something they have put much thought into, until of course they come to choose their special venue and ultimately the style of wedding they wish to have.

We are finding that now, more than ever, wedding trends are playing a huge part in the choices that our couples make. With websites like https://uk.pinterest.com/, millions of beautiful ideas are available at the tap of a screen – no wonder every wedding feels unique!  One of the biggest trends continuing into 2017 is the ‘vintage theme’.  This can be carried right through from the choice of outfits, flowers, venue decor, transport and in particular, the style of food. Think cute bunting and tea lights, vintage lace and pastel posies.

To compliment the vintage theme, at Ginger catering, we can provide a beautiful afternoon tea style wedding breakfast, served on original vintage China (mismatched of course!) to include delicate cake stands, pretty, individual tea cups and saucers and traditional side plates.

Our team of chefs (who you will be reassured to know are not vintage!) will produce the most delicious home-made indthe sandwich theifividual pastries and savouries, to ensure the tea-stands are piled high with tasty treats. Alongside the savouries there will be a selection of finger sandwiches, made with the freshest of bre
ads and filled with the most decadent of meats, fish or specialist cheeses with the all- important accompaniments to ensure the most vibrant of flavours.

Then comes the best bit………the cake. Everyone loves a bit of cake, whether it be a freshly baked home-made fruit scone piled high with clotted cream and strawberry jam, or a succulent slice of moist carrot cake, topped with a sweet cream cheese frosting. Or how about a totally indulgent chocolate fudge cake…..total heaven. Our chefs literally bake the best cakes!

This style of vintage wedding particularly suits a barn, marquee or Private venue Hampshire and we are blessed that there are many venues where we can provide our New Forest catering services. We would be delighted to cater for your special day if you require Wedding Caterers Wiltshire, Dorset, Berkshire, Surrey, West Sussex or Wedding Caterers Hampshire.

If you are planning your wedding, contact us today and we will ensure that you have the wedding of your dreams, whatever the style!
